Education: The process of learning

The meaning:

If you look for the meaning of the word Education in Wikipedia, you will get an elaborate description of the word, narrating it as a process of learning and gaining knowledge by means of lectures, scientific discussions, storytelling and research methodologies. For our convenience, we have divided, this in various stages as in Kindergarten, Preschool, School, Graduation and Post-Graduation program.

What should happen?

As narrated in the above paragraph, there are various stages of acquiring education, with an important role involved at each phase. For example in Kindergarten and Preschool, it is expected that a child should be able to mingle around freely, unfolding the child’s physical and moral nature. It should also help them learn the basic disciplinary rules. Then comes the schooling segment where, a child develops his/ her intellectual skills and gets prepared for the real world i.e. the college life. College life (Graduation) is the most colorful part of one’s life, the reason being it is the stage in which one can decide his/her career options and explore many extracurricular options. Post-Graduation involves acquiring in depth knowledge in any area of specialization.

What is really happening?

Looking at the current scenario and studying facts we observe that the true meaning of Education is actually disoriented. Right from Kindergarten to Schooling, students are put through extreme pressurized situations. Even in college, where they are compelled to choose some rosy career options rather than opting for the fields they actually like. The result is they fail to cope up with the stressful life and succumb to depression and even suicide in some extreme cases.

The solution:

Both parents and education providers can play a key role in improving the situation. Having faith in your child’s capabilities can considerably boost up his/her confidence to face the difficulties of the actual world.

Education providers can provide a homely environment to the students, balancing the integrity of providing education without neglecting one’s self-assurance and dreams.
